CHANEL
“The label has to be there before and after”- Karl
EVERYTHING AND NOTHING TO DO WITH FASHION.
Karl lagerfeld wore many
gloves at Chanel. Beyond being the creative director, he was a photographer, advertising director, videographer, and environmental designer. At Chanel, Karl allocated a significant amount of time in capturing the essence of Chanel.
Up until Karl’s seismic shift in the experience of runway shows, many of the fashion houses runways looked identical with long
runways. Karl envisioned that the brand went beyond the clothes
but the environment as well.
He transformed spaces most notably the Grand Palais in Paris. Depending on the season and vision for the show would transform the space into a forest with actual waterfalls, a rocket launching pad, and even a computer server facility. To Karl, continuity is essential in communicating identity.
